Sonic Cities equips a new generation of community journalists, podcasters and reporters with the tools and skills to use sound to better understand their environment, strengthen local connections and contribute to conversations shaping the future of their cities.
Participants document the sounds, stories and everyday realities of their surroundings — from public space and neighbourhood life to environmental and social change. Treating the city as a sonic system whose textures, rhythms and silences reveal how urban life is experienced, the program culminates in original audio works created with professional guidance using accessible, community-based methods.
